29% de la population vit sous le seuil de pauvreté en 2024 (20% avant la pandémie de 2020).
Depuis 40 ans, Terre des Hommes Alsace soutient des projets au Pérou.
En 2025, plus de 510 enfants sont soutenus à travers 3 projets historiques :
1.« Hogar de Niñas Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia »

Le foyer pour jeunes filles « Hogar de Niñas Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia » de PUENTA PIEDRA (à 20 km au nord de Lima) se consacre aux soins et à la protection des jeunes filles et des adolescentes qui se trouvent dans des situations difficiles et de grande vulnérabilité (pauvreté, condition d’orpheline, monoparentalité, exposition aux addictions…) 85 filles y sont accueillies, réparties par âge dans quatre groupes. Au foyer, elles sont accompagnées par les sœurs dans leur développement intégral pour leur permettre de gagner une place digne dans la société.

Les 4 cantines sont situées dans les bidonvilles sur les collines entourant Lima. Des mamans cuisinent bénévolement des repas à des enfants à plus de 360 enfants,5 jours sur 7.

- « Las Hijas de la Divina Providencia » est un orphelinat à Abancay, à 2400 mètres d’altitude dans la cordillère des Andes qui accueille actuellement 24 pensionnaires : des enfants de 5 à 16 ans et quelques handicapés adultes ayant grandi à l’orphelinat.
